Four Paws and a Tail Photo’s recently held a competition to mark the 10,000th hit on our website. We have managed to arrange the prize for the first place winner – a photo-session, to be held this weekend in Herefordshire with Cally Mantle and her dog Danny, a Welsh Sheepdog.
Cally was very surprised when she and Danny won!
We have been in contact with Cally on Facebook and Twitter for a while and since she won our competition her excitement has been building as we approach the photo-session. Cally might even be more excited than we are!
We understand that Danny is going to be groomed today so he looks his best for us – he is such a handsome dog anyway!
Danny’s Story from Cally
I started working at a rescue centre walking the doggys. I then was offered a job there and worked at the centre for many years. I adopted Danny. Or he adopted me! He was 10 months old and unwanted. Bless him. He was re-homed three times but returned to the rescue centre each time. I decided to foster Danny for 1 hour and we still together three years later. Danny just needed someone to understand his breed instead of people wanting him for the ‘cute face factor!’
This is such a lovely story and it seems like Danny’s destiny was to find his forever home with Cally 🙂
On the Saturday evening we met Cally, her partner David and Danny for the first time. We went out for a meal to a pub that happily allows dogs to visit. This gave us a chance to get to know one another and discuss what we would like to happen during the photo-session.
As a bonus we managed to get a number of photographs of Danny on the Saturday night too – bonus! Danny got a few treats from all of us – lucky boy.
The photo-session itself was really quite straightforward. The landlord of the pub that we had visted the previous evening, kindly allowed us to use the pubs lovely garden for the shoot. This gave Danny the chance to run around, chase his ball and also be lazy.

We had lots and lots of fun photographing Danny, Cally and David. Danny is a gentle, loving dog who as you can see is very photogenic. We had a super time in Herefordshire . Four Paws and a Tail Photos would like to thank Cally and David for being so hospitable.
